HYBRID LABORATORY

Our laboratory is one of a kind. On the one hand, it is a biochemical research station, set up for analyses and the manipulation and cultivation of biomaterials. On the other, it takes the form of a traditional atelier, fit for prototyping and development of new installations and equipment. BioArt Laboratories is the preferred partner for bio-based experiments and projects, due to our expertise, cooperation with other specialised laboratories and the presence of specialized equipment as well as a variety of biomaterials.

TECHNIQUES

Our laboratory is fitted with an array of equipment suitable for physical, chemical, biological and microbiological research. Examples of possibilities our lab has to offer include techniques for quantitative inorganic analysis, material research, microscopy and microbiological quantification and determination methods. Just like BioArt Laboratories itself, our laboratory is ever-evolving, changing to current social demands and the nature of topical issues.

MATERIALS

In search of the most exciting and new biocompatible materials worldwide, BioArt Laboratories decided to start its own library for materials, the ‘Materialenbank’. This library is a way to store a fragile collection of bio-based materials. The Materialenbank is still in a relatively early stage but is regularly updated with new materials and applications. Some of the bacteria in our inventory require a special environment to survive such as freezers set to -80 degrees centigrade, refrigerators, incubators, marshland, forest, etc. Examples of unique materials that you can find in our Materialenbank are Gecko Glue, Slime mold, and Luminous bacteria.

TALENT DEVELOPMENT

BioArt Laboratories focusses strongly on talent development. At BioArt Laboratories, designers, scientists, and artists are offered a platform to develop themselves on different levels: creativity, research, development and marketing. By facilitating the first steps of a professional career, we also help young professionals in their entrepreneurship. Our yearly Talent Pressure Cooker programme focuses on the creation of spin-offs by facilitating crossovers between top talents and professionals with, as the starting point, the use of innovative biomaterials.
