BioArt Laboratories x DDW 2019

 

Wij zijn vereerd dat BioArt Laboratories dit jaar één van de hotspots is voor Dutch Design Week! Als zodanig zijn wij opgenomen in de Bio Design route. Bezoekers kunnen onze locatie bereiken met behulp van hop-on hop-off bussen vanaf Strijp-S. Hieronder worden het programma en het thema van de expositie en evenementen van dit jaar toegelicht. ​

 

The Symbiocene Forest

 

Op onze off-grid locatie springen we van het Antropoceen naar het Symbioceen: van een mensgericht wereldbeeld naar een plek waar alle mensen, natuur en technologie samenwerken, symbiotisch. Daarom passen we de belangrijkste principes van het Symbioceen aan: volledige circulariteit, eliminatie van giftige stoffen, de volledige en veilige biologische afbreekbaarheid van alle materialen en organische integratie van technologie met fysieke en levende systemen. Ons oude bunkercomplex, de laboratoriumwerkplaats en de landelijke omgeving daarbuiten zullen door middel van tentoonstellingen en activiteiten het decor vormen van het Symbiocene Bos. Extra feestelijk is dat BioArt Laboratories oprichtster Jalila Essaïdi één van de ambassadeurs van de Dutch Design Week dit jaar. Dat moet gevierd worden! Op het gehele terrein van BioArt Village vinden dan ook allerlei bijzondere activiteiten plaats.

 

Talent Pressure Cooker

 

Jaarlijks presenteren wij een open call voor talenten die hun werk willen presenteren bij BioArt Laboratories tijdens de Dutch Design Week. Met trots kunnen we dit jaar een getalenteerde groep creatieve makers aankondigen, variërend van productontwikkelaars tot architecten. Een lijst met onze deelnemende kunstenaars vind je hier.

Naast onze Talent Pressure Cooker-tentoonstelling organiseren we de hele week verschillende activiteiten:

The Symbiocene Forest 

Opening exhibition

 

We openen officieel de poorten van “The Symbiocene Forest” en geven het startsein voor Dutch Design Week 2019 in BioArt Village. Met sprekers: Pieter-Christiaan van Oranje-Nassau, Ad van Riel (REASeuro), Christophe Lasseur (MELiSSA), István Kenyeres (Biopolus) en Erik de Ridder (watergraaf van waterschap Dommel). Aansluitend is er een paneldiscussie en presentatie van onze talenten over toekomstige problemen en oplossingen voor watervraagstukken.

Wist je dat BioArt Village eigenlijk bestaat uit bunkers uit de Tweede Wereldoorlog, en dat militairen uit heel Nederland daar hun rijbewijs haalden? Dat en meer leer je allemaal tijdens de rondleidingen die de hele dag beginnen bij de ingang.

Creatieve hubs, zoals BioArt Laboratories, hebben een grote culturele, ecologische en sociale waarde. Maar hoe definiëren we de waarde en impact van dergelijke plekken? Moderatordebat: Desiree Hoving. Met een pittige column van filosoof Victor Gijsbers (Universiteit Leiden), interview met Jalila Essaidi, debat met Eva de Klerk (NDSM-werf), Martijn Braamhaar (Bureau Broedplaatsen Amsterdam) en Bart de Zwart (Fontys).

Whereas all performers have the most various backgrounds and lives, they are connected by the central theme of their stories: water. Lecture: Fact and fiction in sustainable enery

 

Maarten van Andel, director of Fontys natural sciences and author of the book ‘De Groene Illusie’, will give a lecture about the facts and fictions in sustainable energy and the relationship between sustainable energy and circular economics.

Live experiment

 

The symbiocene in practice: enhancing radio signals through the life-essence of trees. An ongoing experiment which will teach you all about this tree-based communication. In collaboration with VERON and Fontys Biology.

Students from Fontys demonstrate various solutions to a serious problem: increasing medicine residue in our drinking water.
